The previously underutilised brownfield site is being redeveloped to accommodate the 168no bed student castle accommodation, awarded by new client Vinci Construction.
The works include the renovation of an existing unit within the development along with the substructure and superstructure works for the new build element. The accommodation includes common areas and facilities, plant rooms, staff and management areas, landscaping and car parking.
Precast concrete columns and an undercroft have been integrated in to the scheme as a flood defence against the adjacent wharf, resulting in an enclosed and restricted site to work in. The precast columns will be constructed in-house, allowing a fast-track build solution, impacting a saving on the overall project programme.
- Integration of Bamtec carpet reinforcement resulting in a number of benefits including, accelerated programme, saving of up to 35% in steel, elimination of wastage, and reduced requirement for checking insitu fixed material.
- Integration of FP McCann Easi-Base manhole system with benefits such as, immediate a water tight structure allowing quicker follow up activities, less material wastage and reduced maintenance costs.
