Works Underway at Wren Hall – Selby

We are proud to share that works are officially underway at Wren Hall, part of the Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) converter station in Selby.

Appointed by BAM, Cidon is delivering the service buildings package – a key element of the extensive reinforced concrete works on the UK’s single largest electricity transmission project to date.

EGL2 – a joint venture between SSEN Transmission and National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) – marks another milestone in the development of a new subsea electricity superhighway, following key contract awards to BAM and Hitachi Energy to build converter stations at either end of the route.

The project will deliver a 525kV HVDC subsea transmission cable linking Peterhead, Scotland, to Drax, England – making it the longest HVDC cable in the UK. The project will be capable of transmitting 2GW of electricity, enough to power up to two million homes.

We are excited to join with BAM and play our part in delivering this vital national infrastructure.
